Aventura : Le mois du coeur
 Aventura Hospital recevait les membres de la presse en début de février pour souligner le mois du cœur à leur façon, c’est-à-dire en présentant deux femmes qui ont survécu à une opération à cœur ouvert et qui, aujourd’hui, s’en portent très bien. Aventura Hospital est reconnu comme étant l’un des meilleurs hôpitaux du sud de la Floride pour traiter les maladies coronariennes.
Voici les témoignages.
Hi I am Sharon Solano, I am 39 years old. I was living a fast-paced lifestyle and never thought heart disease was something I had to worry about. I had a very stressful job. I run my own business and thought I felt tired all the time I attributed it to working long hours and frequently traveling. I was experiencing numbness around my mouth, shortness of breath, dry cough, I developed flu symptoms and had an Echo performed that did not detect anything unusual.
This past December, I woke up in the middle of the night with shortness of breath, dry cough, and couldn’t catch my breath. I was experiencing heart failure but did not know it. I was rushed to Aventura Hospital and Medical Center and Dr. Alfredo Rego performed open heart surgery. I had a hole in my heart that apparently I was born with it and was never detected. Dr. Rego saved my life! I now cherished every moment shared with my family and two kids. Life is precious and we take it for granted sometimes.
At 41-year-old, Victoria Villalba was living a fast-paced lifestyle and never thought heart disease was something she had to worry about. Villalba has a stressful job. She runs her own business, Victoria & Associates Career Services, Inc., and thought she felt tired all the time because she worked long hours. But Villalba was also the victim of a pre-existing condition. “I experienced four TIA’s or mini strokes in the course of a year and it was then discovered that I had a hole in my heart,” said Villalba. Villalba’s mother insisted she have her heart repaired for Mother’s Day back in 2004. Sadly enough, Villalba’s mother died a month later after suffering a stroke. Villalba, is also an honorary survivor at the 2006 Go Red for Women Luncheon and says her faith in God has helped her through it all. She cherishes every moment shared with her family. “We really appreciate each other. We do not take people for granted. Life is precious and a gift,” said Villalba.
